An eye for detail

Carl was born and raised an hour from Brisbane in the expanses of the Lockyer Valley. The son of a Danish father and Australian mother, Carl’s craft was honed with a unique fusion; the detail and discipline of the Danish wood working tradition, and the down to earth pragmatism of regional Australia.

His formal study of woodworking began in his backyard workshop, apprenticing as a cabinet maker under his father, Jens. He completed his Certificate 3 in Cabinet Making (Furniture) at Toowoomba TAFE. After working professionally for several years, Carl continued to finesse his craft under the tutelage of master furniture maker Roy Schack, who runs The Brisbane School of Fine Woodwork and often teaches at Sturt School for Wood in New South Wales.

Despite a busy schedule working on various high end Architectural projects, bespoke furniture, custom cabinetry and industry consultation, Carl also ran a vinyl shop in Toowomba, BUNKER, which obtained a cult following in the South East of Queensland.

Flying his own flag as Bøgelund Studio, Carl has designed and built projects for renowned Brisbane artists Shilo Englebrecht and Helen Miller as well as building custom cabinetry for residential and commercial spaces in Brisbane, such as Soul O Eco hairdressing salon, and planning and development firm Plan C. Carl has also played an integral role in projects for award winning architects Nielsen Jenkins, Hive Architecture, Nick Tyson Architecture, as well as working on projects for Mast Furniture and Blackwood Collective.

Carl is available to work on projects of all scales and sizes. He relishes the creative exchange and collaborative spirit of working with architects, artists or designers as much as fulfilling the vision of private clients, devising custom furniture and bespoke cabinetry solutions.

Now based in Melbourne, Carl is a highly skilled tradesman with broad experience and a firm commitment to quality work.
